OneTool for macOS · Last updated October 20, 2026
Short version: OneTool doesn't collect any data. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, and the app never connects to the internet. Everything it stores stays on your Mac.
What OneTool stores on your Mac
- Clipboard history: text, links, images, file paths and colors you copy, with the name of the app you copied from. It's kept in OneTool's own storage on your Mac (in your user Library), for 30 days or 500 items by default. You can change both, or switch history off, in Settings → Clipboard.
- Screenshots: saved as PNG files to the folder you choose (by default
Pictures/OneTool Screenshots). You can turn off saving so screenshots only go to the clipboard. - Settings: your shortcuts, sounds and preferences.
None of this is sent anywhere. To delete it, use Settings → Clipboard → Clear Clipboard History, delete the screenshot files, or uninstall the app.
What OneTool never keeps
- Items that password managers mark as private or temporary (the
org.nspasteboardconcealed and transient markers). - Anything copied in apps on your ignore list. Password apps are on it by default, and you can add more.
Permissions and why
- Screen Recording: to capture the area or window you select, and to read text from it when you use Copy Text. Text recognition runs on your Mac with Apple's Vision framework.
- Accessibility: to paste the clip you choose into the app you're using, to move and resize windows when you use window snapping, and to block key presses while you clean your keyboard. OneTool doesn't record what you type.
- Automation (System Events): only to switch Light/Dark Mode when you tap the Dark Mode switch.
Each permission is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it, and you can turn any of them off in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Network, analytics and third parties
OneTool has no network code, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs and no advertising. We don't sell, share or receive any of your data, because we never have it.
Children
OneTool doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a future version ever changes what OneTool collects, we'll update this page and say so in the release notes before that version ships.
